Boudoir Pricing & Investment
Frequently Asked Questions
-
The easiest way to determine your boudoir photography budget is to begin with what you actually want to have when the experience is finished.
Before choosing a package, make a simple wish list. Do you want a beautiful album? Ten favorite prints? A complete digital gallery? A framed portrait? Professional hair and makeup? Several wardrobe changes? Are you creating a wedding or anniversary gift, or do you want an extensive collection of photographs for yourself?
Then identify the amount you are comfortable investing.
Send me those two things: what you would ideally like to have and the budget you would like to stay within.
From there, I can usually make the pieces work.
I would much rather help you build an experience around what matters to you than have you choose a collection simply because it happens to be printed on a pricing page. Sometimes that means adjusting photography time, prioritizing an album over a larger digital collection, selecting a smaller number of finished prints, or finding another combination that gives you the things you care about most while respecting the amount you planned to spend.
You do not need to understand albums, print sizes, image quantities or every available option before contacting me. Tell me what you envision, tell me what you would like to spend, and I can help you determine the most sensible way to bring the two together.
Start with your wish list. Then give me your budget. I can usually take it from there.
-
Your investment includes considerably more than the minutes we spend actively taking photographs.
Depending on the experience you select, your investment may include planning and preparation, private consultations, wardrobe and styling guidance, use of my private Portland studio and studio wardrobe, professional hair and makeup, refreshments, detailed posing and expression direction, photography, professional retouching, digital photographs, albums, prints, custom artwork and other personalized elements.
Every experience is different because every client values different things. One person may care most about having a beautiful album to give their partner. Another may want an extensive digital gallery. Someone else may want only a handful of extraordinary finished portraits and professional hair and makeup.
That is why I encourage you to begin with what you actually want rather than assuming the largest package is automatically the right one.
If you tell me what matters most to you, I can help you understand where your investment is best spent.
-
No surprise purchase should be required simply to walk away with photographs from an experience you have already booked.
Each Beaux & Arrows boudoir experience clearly identifies the photographs and products included with it. If your collection includes seven finalized digital portraits, those seven portraits are yours. If your experience includes an album, digital gallery, prints or artwork, those items are part of the experience you reserved.
You may absolutely decide that you want more after seeing your photographs, but additional purchases are optional.
I want you to be excited because you love more photographs than you expected, not anxious because the price you originally saw was only the beginning of what you would actually need to spend.
-
Absolutely!
If you fall in love with more photographs than your selected experience includes, you can add additional finalized images, prints, albums, custom framing and other photographic artwork according to the options available with your collection.
You do not necessarily need to make all of those decisions before being photographed.
If you already know that you want something specific, such as an album plus ten prints and a complete digital gallery, tell me when we begin planning. I can often structure your experience more intelligently when I know what the finished collection is supposed to become.
-
Often, yes.
The published experiences provide a useful starting point, but they do not necessarily represent every possible combination of photography, digital images, albums, prints, professional styling and artwork.
If none of the listed experiences feels quite right, send me two things: your wish list and your comfortable budget.
For example, you might tell me that your priorities are professional hair and makeup, approximately twenty finished photographs and a small album, and that you would like to remain around a particular total investment.
I can then look at the pieces that matter most and determine whether there is a sensible way to build an experience around them.
A budget does not offend me, and you do not need to be embarrassed to have one. Knowing the number simply gives me a useful parameter to work within.
-
For many clients, yes, particularly if you want the session to feel like a complete portrait experience rather than simply arriving to have photographs taken.
Professional hair and makeup is not required to be beautiful in photographs, however. If your budget is better spent on additional finished photographs, an album or something else you value more, I would rather help you prioritize accordingly.
When professional hair and makeup is included or added, I coordinate it as part of the experience so the styling works with the photographs we are creating.
The right investment is the one that puts your money toward the parts of the experience you will actually value.
-
There is no universally correct answer.
Digital photographs provide flexibility. You can keep them privately, access them easily and use them to create additional pieces in the future according to the rights included with your collection.
Printed photographs and albums provide something very different. They turn the experience into a physical object that can be held, gifted, displayed or privately kept for decades.
Many clients ultimately choose a combination: a digital collection for preservation and flexibility, alongside an album or selected prints containing the photographs that matter most.
If your budget requires choosing between the two, tell me how you imagine using the photographs. I can help you decide where your investment is likely to have the greatest value for you.
